Hungarian Chicken Goulash

Go Go Go Leicester!! Oh yes ~~ Congratulation Leicester. Leicester football team won season end champion on Monday. It is a very good gift for people in Leicester. My friend, Miss S, and I drove pass the stadium. OMG, there were lots of people and they all looked very happy. Because we are the season end champion. OH YEAH!! Even though both of us are not fans, we are so proud of them.

Another interesting thing is that most people who have no ideas where Leicester is. Now, they know it because of Leicester football team. Hope they can continue their great job in the following seasons.

Recipe: Serve 3~4 people

Steps of Hungarian Chicken Goulash

(1) Heat the oil up in the sauce pan. Add onion in the pan. Fry around 3 minutes.
(2) Add carrot and tomato in the pan. Cover the lid. Simmer it until it turns tender. Might take around 5~10 minutes.

(3) Blend all ingredients by hand blender. Mix dry basil, tomato purée, and paprika into the sauce. Bring it to boil, and switch the heat off.

(4) Add chicken into the slow cooker. Pour the sauce into the slow cook. Switch it to low and cook for 2~3 hours until the chicken turns tender.

Paprika is the spirit of Hungarian Goulash. If you like it, you can increase to 3~4 table spoon. For me 2 table spoon of paprika is perfect. Although the winter this year in the UK is not very cold, I still like to eat this kind of hot food. Enjoy it.

Tomato Stew Beef

The weather in the UK backs to normal, around 10 degree C recently. It is nice. Not so cold as long as it is not so windy. X’Mas is coming soon that my friend and I were discussing what kind of X’Mas movies we should watch together? I have no ideas what she talked about, like “Miracle on 34th Street” or “It's a Wonderful Life”. For me, X’mas movies are like “Home alone” or “The Holiday”. HAHA… It is a huge difference. I have no ideas what those movies are. And I don’t think they are broadcasted in Taiwan. But, I will definitely watch those classic movies in the UK to experience the real X’MAS.

Hungarian Beef Goulash

Recently, the weather in the UK is really weird. It is not very cold, like having single digit only. The average temperature is around 11 degree C, but it is very windy. So, you feel colder than it is shown. In such kind of weather, hot meal is your comfort food, like Hungarian Beef Goulash

Few years ago, I have eaten Hungarian Beef Goulash in a restaurant. I can’t forget the taste of Hungarian Beef Goulash. I like the spice flavor a lot. Paprika is mad by red pepper. The weird thing is I don’t like red pepper, but I like paprika.

Slow cooker is definitely your good friend in the kitchen. In Taiwan, my mom or my aunts do all stew every meal or soup on the stove. But, actually it is easier and more convenient to cook in the slow cooker. Like Hungarian Beef Goulash or Beef Stroganof, I add everything into slow cooker, then I go and do things. Sometime, I even go to work out in the gym. So, when I come back, there is a very yum and hot meal waiting for me. Come come… it is winter now that we need such HOT food to keep warm. Enjoy it.

Chinese Mushroom Chicken Soup

After having good weather around two weeks, it looks like the weather will turns to cold and chill. It is definitely in autumn now. In Taiwan, we would like to drink soup to warm up our body in autumn and help us against the cold winter. The soup we drink in Taiwan is more like consommé in France. The basic ingredients for the soup is bone of pork, chicken or beef. Add a little salt. Cook in small heat for hours. So, I would like to share one of my favorite soups by slow cooker, Chinese Mushroom Chicken Soup.

Recipe: Serve 2~3 people

Step
(1) Put Chinese mushroom in the bowl. Add the hot water in. Wait around 20~30 minutes.

(2) Wash the chickens. And put in the pan. Add water in. Water needs to be covered over the chicken
(3) Add the mushrooms in. Cover the lid. Switch to high and cook around 2 hours until the chicken becomes tender. Add salt in. Serve it in hot

Using slow cooker to cook soup is really convenient. Put everything in and switch on. Then, you can have a delicious soup after 2 hours. Hee… Feel cold?? Go and try it.
