Priddy Oggies

I am interested in a game called RummiKub. My friends and I played at the day one of 2016. I searched the wiki that it is a combination of Rummy and Mahjong. I have no idea what is Rummy. But, Mahjong?! Of course, I know how to play Mahjong as a Taiwanese girl. So, I definitely enjoy this game. And I think it is more complicated than Mahjong. For Mahjong, you need to focus on what you have and find a way to get sets. For RummiKub, you focus on not only what you have, but also what are played. Then, you can manipulate players’ cards and try to get rid of you have on hand. RummiKub has sold online, but you can actually use 2 sets of playing cards to play. So, google the rules on-line and try it.

Oven Temperature Setting:
Bake at 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6 for the first 20 minutes.
Then, lower the temperature to 160C/325F/Gas Mark 3 for the next 30 minutes.
Recipe: Serve 5 people

Steps of Priddy Oggies

(1) Make the pastry firstly. Mix the salt and flour in a bowl. Then, place the diced better in the bowl. Rub butter into the flour with fingertips until it is breadcrumbs like.

(2) Stir grated cheese with breadcrumbs. Add water into the bowl to make it into a firm dough. Set aside around 30 minutes.

(3) Prepare the filling. Add chopped apple and sliced mushroom into a big bowl.
(4) Cut the pork and bacon into a roughly 0.5 cm pieces. Add into the bowl with grated cheese and chopped basil. Mix them well. Season with some salt.

(5) Divide pastry into 5 balls. Take one ball. Roll it into a 24 cm diameter circle. Place the filling in the center of the pastry.

(6) Place it on the baking tray. Bring both sides of pastry up to press it together. Brush with beaten egg over the top of pastry. Use a chopstick to poke some holes over the top of pastry.

(7) Repeat step (5) and (6) for the rest of 4 pasties. Then, send it to the pre-heat oven at 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6 for the first 20 minutes. Then, lower the temperature to 160C/325F/Gas Mark 3 for the next 30 minutes.

It is a very good pastry. The pork is so tender that eating with apple advances the taste.

Beef and Mushroom Pasta

Apart from X’Mas decoration, X’Mas tree and Advent Calendar, there is one more interesting thing in the UK. That is “X’Mas crackers”. It is used to pulled at the Christmas dinner table or at parties. According to Wikipedia, it is not widely popular in the whole world. It is more like a traditional X’Mas play in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. X’Mas crackers is a cardboard tube wrapped in a brightly decorated X’Mas wrapping paper. Inside the cracker, there are a color paper hat, a small toy and other trinket and a motto. Then, you need to wear that paper hat during your meal and say the trinket to everyone. I can’t wait to see what my small toy is this time in my X’Mas cracker.

Creamy Chicken

Finally, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2” is in the cinema now. My friend and I went to watch it yesterday. Because it is off-peak time that only 8 people were there. But, no matter how many people there, they still need to play the movie. All of us hope they can skip advertisements and trails and jump into the movie. HAHA… No… we still spent 20 minutes to watch it. Anyway, the movie is good. Although we know what the ending is, we still cried at the end. Jennifer Lawrence is an excellent actress that she makes this movie better.

Cold winter needs lot of HOT soup and food. I like to drink soup when I was in Taiwan. If it is possible, I would like to drink soup every single day. But, most of Chinese soups takes long time to cook so that I always cooked a big pot and leave in the fridge.

When I start to use slow cooker, I find out it is really easy to cook soup and you can just leave there when you go to work. After finishing the work, you can have fresh soup to drink. I think slow cooker is a good helper for every family.

Stuffed Mushrooms

Every time I went to shop, I always saw the ready-to-cook stuffed mushrooms. I never tried it. But, it is always on my to-do list. Search for some cooking website to confirm my cooking ordeer. Here is my way to cook “Stuffed Mushrooms”. It is very easy. I use “large flat mushrooms” to cook. You can change it to baby mushroom and serve it as a starter.

Oven Temperature: 180 . Baking Time: 20 minutes.
My stuffed mushrooms recipe: Serve for 4

Steps of Stuffed Mushrooms

(1) Prepare all ingredients
(2) Chop the stem out of the mushrooms. Chop stems and onions into small pieces
(3) Add oil into the fired pan. Then, add onions and stems into the fired pan. Cook around 1~2 minutes. Then, add beef mince into the fired pan. After cooking around 5 minutes, add soy sauce, sweet chili sauce and salt in. Cook for around 2~5 minutes until it’s well-cooked. Set aside.

(4) Stuff mushrooms with the beef mince mixture. Put them on the baking plate with a baking paper.
(5) Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
(6) Pre-heat the oven at 180 . Bake stuffed mushroom around 20 minutes.
“Selena’s Kitchen Talk: If you use small mushrooms, the baking time is around 10 minutes.”

YUM! So, it is so YUM!!! And it is a nutritious dish with beef mince and lots of vegetables. You can make it become a main course if you eat with potato at the same time. Try it. You will love it.
